We know that establishing some common ground with people who are often isolated can help them have more of an impact on the world. One of the approaches that can help this to happen is Intensive Interaction, a simple and empathetic way of encouraging people to communicate in ways that are familiar and natural to them.
Us in a Bus offers two training workshops, delivered by our Director of Training; Janet Gurney which are suitable for anyone who wants to communicate and relate more closely with people with profound learning disabilities and complex needs:
Introduction to Intensive Interaction – a 1 day workshop to explore and understand the principles and techniques of Intensive Interaction and how to use it to build more fulfilling, interactive and equal relationships with the people you support
Next Steps in Intensive Interaction – aimed at anyone who has already attended Introduction to Intensive Interaction. During the day you will reflect on your practice and explore how to extend the connections you’ve built with the people you support.
Us in a Bus is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, specialising in providing high quality, effective, innovative & unique services for people who can seem to be ‘difficult to reach.’
